BASIC MONEY SAVING TIPS
- Turn off the light when you are not in the room.
- Turn down the heat in your home/office when it is not in use. Meaning, if you are gone from your home all day, turn down the heat a few degrees
- Turn your computer off at night.
- Carpool as much as possible.
- Regularly check for long distance phone deals by calling your long distance service provider. They come up with new packages all the time. Ask a service provider if you are on the best plan.
- Check with your home owner's insurance company every 6 months to see if you can save money by being on a higher deductible.
- Clip coupons.
- Pay yourself first before buying something too expensive. Meaning, put some money into an IRA account from every paycheck.
- If you have to use your credit card for a purchase because you have no cash on you, go home and right a check out to the credit card company right away for the amount you just spent and send it in. That way you don't have to forget about it later and pay 20% interest.
- Get a credit card where you earn points or rewards for items you purchase. There are 100's out there. For example, GM has a card so you can put points towards a new car, Northwest Airlines has a credit card so you can save money on airline tickets, etc.
